He was well-known in the neighborhood of Coventryville, where he had resided for a number of years as a farmer. He married Elizabeth Eachus, formerly of East Nantmeal, who survives him, and is a sister of Mrs. Kate A. Garrett, of West Chester. Four children are living, Laura, wife of Leonard Amole, Pottstown; Elwood, of Pottstown; Sallie, wife of John Holman, of this county, and Fred, who is at home. Mrs. Garrett and her son, Walter and daughter, Carrie, will attend the funeral tomorrow. Daily Local News, February 7, 1901 The last sad rites over the remains of John Ewing, formerly of this county, were held yesterday morning at 10 o’clock from his late residence, No. 230 South Street, Pottstown. Rev. John Stringer, pastor of the First M.E. Church conducted the religious ceremonies, which were very impressive. The floral tributes included a sheaf of wheat with the word “Father” inscribed upon it; burial blanket, from Elwood Ewing, wax lilies, from Fred Ewing, sheaf of wheat and smilax, from Mrs. John W. Halteman; wreath from Mrs. Ewing; bouquet of carnations from Mrs. Lyman Amole; cut flowers from friends. The pall bearers were chosen from Pottstown Lodge No. 429 Knights of Pythias, and were as follows: Walter E. Shinehouse, Samuel I Smith, Harry G. Baldwin, Joel Fox, Irvin W. Riegner and Hezekiah Keiter. The members of the Lodge attended in body. Interment was made at Mt.
