Daily Local News, February 2, 1906

The funeral of Davis Smedley, who died at the age of 76 years, occurred this 
morning, interment being made at Old St. David’s.  Members of the Grand Army of 
the Republic and Knights of the Golden Eagle were present.  Davis Smedley’s 
death occurred at the home of his son Dr. Charles D. Smedley, Wayne.  He was 
born in Uwchlan, belonging to the Society of Friends, but during the Rebellion 
he enlisted in the 203d Pennsylvania Volunteers and served therein until the 
end of the war.  A widow, a son and a daughter survive.
