Clearfield Progress, Friday, April 6, 1951
Mrs. Bessie I. Gifford, aged 67 of 422 Spruce street, died in the Clearfield 
Hospital at 7 p.m. Thursday following a long illness.   She is survived by her 
husband and two children, William, McDonald, OH, and Mrs. Florence 
Aughenbaugh, Clearfield.   

Eleven grandchildren and two great grandchildren also survive along with three 
brothers: Herbert, Clearfield; Frank, Curwensville, and Lewis; and one sister, 
Ms. Zella Elridge, Clearfield.   

Two children, Mrs. Clara White and Bernard, preceded her in death.   Mrs. 
Gifford was a lifelong member of the Baptist Church and she and her husband 
had celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary on Christmas day.   

Funeral services will be held from the home of her sister Mrs. Zella Elridge 
at 426 Spruce Street Sunday at 2 p.m.   Dr. A.H.Owens will officiate and 
interment will be made in the Pine Grove Cemetery.   Friends may call at the 
Elridge home this evening, Saturday afternoon and evening until time of the 
services on Sunday. 
 
Additional Comments:
Bessie was the daughter of Andrew Jackson (Jack) Duttry 1855-1925 and Clara 
Alice (Alice) Rhodabaugh 1860-1935.  Fred Duttry of Curwensville supplied the 
info on Alice's death certificate.
