All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/clearfield/ __________________________________________ Death of Samuel Kirk Samuel Kirk, of Madera, formerly of Tyrone, and real estate owner in this city, died Tuesday morning at 2 o'clock in the University hospital, Philadelphia, the result of an operation on his right limb. Mr. Kirk had been ill the past six weeks from gangrene, and last week it was decided that an operation was necessary. He was taken to the University hospital, Philadelphia, where the limb was amputated at the knee. The operation, which was made as a last resort, was performed last Thursday morning. The patient was getting along nicely until Saturday when complications set in, and he gradually grew weaker until death came this morning at the above time. Mr. Kirk, who was aged 71 years, was born in Clearfield county. He resided in Tyrone about twelve years. His wife, who is buried in Grandview cemetery, Tyrone, preceded him to the grave about eleven years. Mr. Kirk is survived by one son, James E. Kirk, of Madera. He is also survived by one brother, John Kirk, and one sister, Mrs. Lucida Ripla, of Cumberland, Md., Mrs. Tozier, Mrs. Bressler and James Haddon, of Tyrone, are nieces and nephews of the deceased.
