All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/clearfield/ ________________________________________________ CLEARFIELD PROGRESS, Clearfield, PA, May 4, 1927 SAMUEL ALFRED SMEAL Samuel Alfred Smeal died at his home in Pike township April 27, aged 76 years, nine months and 16 days. He was the eldest son of George W. and Mary E. Smeal, deceased, and had been a resident of Pike township all his life. Mr. Smeal followed farming as his life's work, making several small ventures in the coal business. Joining the Methodist church at ??? during the revival of Rev. Gideon P. Sarvis, he steadfastly supported the works of his church until his death. Ever ready to help those in need, he is a man who will be sadly missed in his community. Surviving are the following children: Thomas W. Smeal, of Lawrence township; Harry D. Smeal, of Cleveland, Ohio; Mrs. Ernest Grover, of DuBois; Miss Margaret M. Smeal of DuBois; Larry Z. Smeal of Pike township; Albert G. Smeal at home. Four grandchildren, one great-grandchild and two half-brothers, C. E. and C. T. Boal of Pike township, also survive. His wife preceded him to the grave 17 years ago; two sons also died before their father, Charles J. and Brennan C. Funeral services were held from his home Saturday afternoon at 2:30, Rev. Taylor officiating, assisted by Rev. E. Roy Hauser. The Susquehanna Grange had charge of the burial service at the grave in Centre cemetery.
