My Father Hugh Gallagher is listed in the 1925 Clipper Yearbook. Thank you for posting this yearbook! I saw photos of my father that I had never seen before. I am also attaching a letter from a Mrs. Woods to my Grandmother, Estelle Steele Gallagher. Before finding this letter, I knew nothing about Michael (my grandfather, Estelle's husband) other than his name. This letter indicates he had a sister who must have died sometime in late 1952 or early 1953. Unfortunately, the letter only refers to a "Miss Gallagher" so it has been impossible for me to track Michael and "Miss Gallagher" to any census. Miss Gallagher must have had a will or had some kind of substance as she obviously had a nurse, house keeper, cook, a butler of sorts, and an attorney (Mr. Bialas) who oversaw her belongings being packed. I found the 1951 Pittsburgh telephone directory and could not parallel the Mrs. Woodside mentioned in the letter to any Gallagher households. Since Miss Gallagher died a spinster, even if she paid Social Security, she would not be listed in the Social Security Death Index as no benefits would have been paid to a spouse or children. I have searched Yahoo news, Library of Congress, Allegheny County WebGen, etc. Soooo...if you could, please give me some direction, I would TRULY APPRCIATE IT! I think, if I could find "Miss Gallagher", I might be able to find Michael. I have a family tree listed on Ancestory.com: Gallagher/Steele family tree.
