Access to the newer, upper cemetery is a continuation of the road into the Centerville Lutheran Church. Another access is from Route 233. GPS location 40 06.698 77 20.04 The cemetery was founded 15 May 1897 by H.H. Longsdorf, J.L.Williams, H.H.Weakley, S.T.Long, J.Beetem, J.H.Himes, L.G.Hosfeld, L.H.Shenk, and C.A.Snoke as mentioned on a stone in the northwest or lower corner closest to the church. A Centreville Cemetery Association was organized with a Board of nine Directors. The original members of the Board were all members of the Centreville Lutheran Church. The Association issued deeds to anyone, regardless of their religious affiliation. Betty Carson recorded this cemetery in May 2003, and additions after that are from the obituaries of the Carlisle Sentinel. Betty and Linda Piekut re-walked the cemetery on June 18, 2009, made the additions and changed the location designations of some stones. The cemetery burial records note that in February or March, 1938 "13 Bodies [were] Transferred from South Fairview to Centerville Cemetery," by Jacob Croman, however, no names were listed. This cemetery is laid out with a monument in the center and most stones in concentric rings with several spokes radiating out from that center. Where known, locations are indicated by a single letter at the end of each entry that denotes the section of the cemetery where the person is buried (see map). Not all records had locations.
