I Sara Phillips of Menalen Township, Fayette County, Pennsylvania, being sick and weak in body, but of sound mind memory and understanding praised be God for it, considering the certainty of death and the uncertainty of the time thereof, and to the end I may be the better prepared to leave this word whenever it shall please God to call me hence. I do therefore make and declare this my last will and testament in manner following, that is to say, First and prinscipally I command my soul unto the hands of Almighty God my creator. Second in manner following that is to say, I order that all my just debts and funeral expences and charges be fully paid and satisfied by my son David Phillips. Third, I will and bequeath unto my son David Phillips all and every of my goods and chattels whatsoever belonging to me, consisting of numerous household such as beeds and beeding furniture, one mantle clock one horse beast belonging to me, one cow and all moneys, Judgements, notes or bonds what belonging to me by any means whatsoever. And last I hereby nominate & appoint my son David Phillips my executor of this my last will and testament, hereby revoking all others by me made, and desiring this to remain as it is my last will and testament. In Witness whereof, I hereunto set my hand and seal this twentieth day of January AD 1847. Sara (her mark) Phillips (seal) Signed sealed and published in the presents of us Wm Hatfield Martha Carlile Fayette County Ss (Register seal) On the 11th day of April A D 1849 before me Joseph Gadd, Register for the probate of Wills and granting of letters of administration in and for said County, came William Hatfield Esq & Martha Carlile, the subscribing witnesses to the foregoing Instrument of writing, purporting to be the last will & testament of Sarah Phillips sign (by making her mark) acknowledge and declare the same as and for her last will and testament and that at the time of so doing, she was of sound mind memory and understanding to the best of their knowledge, observation and belief and that they know of no undue influence used, or later will made by the deceased, and that they signed their names as witnesses thereto in the presence of S at the request of the testator & in the presence of each other. In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and the seal of the Registers office at Uniontown the day and date above written.
