We encourage links to the state and county table of contents. ____________________________________________________________ I Ruth Phillips of the County of Fayette and State of Pennsylvania, Single woman, being of sound mind memory and understanding do make and publish this my last will and testament hereby revoking and making void all former wills I at any time heretofore made ____to such estate as it hath pleased God to entrust me with I dispoe of the same as follows, viz I give and bequeath to Martha Dorsey, the daughter of my deceased brother Solomon Phillips and wife of George Dorsey of Washington County, Pennsylvania, the Sum of two Hundred dollarsŠ Item I give and bequeath unto William Phillips, Jonathan Phillips, Rebecca Phillips and Ruth Elizabeth Phillips also children of my brother Solomon Phillips deceased Eight Shares of the Capital stock which I own in the Capitol Stock in the Muskingum Branch of the State Bank of Ohio at Zanesville, Ohio. The said stock to be divided equally to and among these four last mentioned children of my deceased brother Solomon and to the issue of such as may then be dead Share and share alikeŠ Item I give and bequeath unto my brother Ellis Phillips the twenty shares which I own in the Capitol Stock of the Monongahela Bank at Brownsville and in the event of my said brother Ellis being deceased at the time of my death, I do give and bequeath the said last mentioned stock to his children share and share alikeŠ Item I give and bequeath unto my said brother Ellis Phillips in addition to said bank stock the sum of Four Hundred dollarsŠ Item I give and bequeath unto Ruth Jackman, wife of Barnard Jackman of the state of Ohio, to Thomas Lilly, Ellis Lilly, Elizabeth Lilly and Phoebe Ann Lilly five of the children of my deceased Sister Elizabeth Lilly former wife of Ellis Lilly the ten shares which I own in the Capitol Stock of the Farmers Bank of Salem Branch of the State bank of Ohio to be equally divided to and among the said five children of my said deceased Sister and to the issue of such as may then be dead, Share and Share alike. Item I direct that my stock in the Monongahela Bridge Company at Brownsville be sold by my executor hereinafter named and the proceeds of said sale together with all the rest and residue of my personal estate whatsoever and wheresoever of what kind nature and quality soever the same may be and nothereinbefore given and disposed of (after paying my debts legacies and funeral expenses) I give and bequeath the same as follows viz The one third thereof I give and bequeath unto my brother Ellis Phillips and to his heirs and the one third thereof unto William Phillips, Jonathan Phillips, Rebecca Phillips, and Ruth Elizabeth Phillips the before mentioned four children of my deceased brother Solomon Phillips Share and Share alike the issue of such as may be dead taking the share of his or her or their dead parent and the remaining one third thereof I give and bequeath unto Ruth Jackman, wife of Barnard Jackman of the state of Ohio __ foresaid to Thomas Lilly, Ellis Lilly, Elizabeth Lilly and Phoebe Ann Lilly the before mentioned five children of ______as may then be dead taking the share of his her or their deceased parent__ I do hereby constitute and appoint my brother Ellis Phillips sole Executor of this my last will & testament. Ruth Phillips (seal) Signed sealed published and declared by the above named Ruth Phillips as for her last will and testament in the presence of us who have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses in the presence of said testator and of each other Joshua B Howell H W Patterson Fayette County Ss (Register seal) On the 27th day of November Anno Domini 1834 before me the Subscriber Register for the Probate of Wills __ in and for said County came Joshua B Howell Esq and H W Patterson subscribing Witnesses to the foregoing Instrument of writing purporting to be the last Will and Testament of Ruth Phillips late of Fayette County, Pa decd and being duly sworn (with hands uplifted) did say that they were present & saw & heard the said Ruth Phillips sign __ publish and declare the foregoing as & for her last Will & testament when of sound mind memory and understanding that no undue influence was used or later will made by the Testator that at her request & in her presence & the presence of each other they signed the same as witnesses. In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal of the Register office of said county the date above written.
