We encourage links to the state and county table of contents. ____________________________________________________________ "The History of the Plummer Family in this country goes back to one Isaac Plummer who came to this country from England among the early settlers., and settled in Maryland. About this fourth generation John Plummer, who was the son of Abraham Plummer, was born in Stone Creek Valley, Barre Township, Huntingdon Co. Pa ___1785. In 1809 he marrie dMiss Sasrah Green, and togerh was born 4 children, Abraham, Swanley, Mary Coy, Wilson J, and a baby girl, unnamed, who died at about 3 months. Abraham S. Plummer, was born May 21, 1812 also in Stone Creek Valley. This valley was formed by mountains on the east and Warriors Ridge on the west. In 1831 John Plummer came to Edinburgh and bought a farm and cleared away timber enough to make room and build a log cabine and return to PA. The following spring he returned to O (?) with his family and occupied the cabin and began to clean up the farm. Abraham was then 20 years old and shared all the work of clearing the farm, making the brick and buliding a house. Also superintended the work of getting out the timber and erecting a large barn on the farm. In 1839 Abraham returned to the valley of Stone Creek to the old nighborhood and married one of his youthful playmates Miss Amy (Naomi) Coy. Returned bringing his bride in a one horse wagon to his new home and always lived with his father on the same farm. Where he has lived for 68 years. In l841 he was commissioned in Fourth Regiment, First Brigade and Twentieth Div of the state militia by Gov of Ohio. He was a kind affectionate and devoted husband, father, a useful and law abiding citizen, an accomodating and obligeing neighbor. A faithful ? Christiann and came down to the ripe age of 88 yrs. with out the fear of death with bright hope of a blissful immortality (supplied at Christ's second comeing) To Abraham Plummer and wife were born 6 children Sara O, John Wesley, Franklin E, Lewis J, Benson C, and Eugene W, of whom only 3, Sarah (now Mrs. Martin Dole) Lewis J, and Eugene W. are living. He died Dec 10, 1900. The lst years of his life was spent with his son Eugen and wife where he had good care. The other person who lies before us in the this remarkable and unusual concidence of a double funeral at their old home is that of Mary C. Plummer, who was born Dec 17 1813 and a sister of Abrama. She was married to Rev. Alva Wilder (a M. ? minister) Aug 31 1842. To them was born 6 children, Alverman M., Plimpton, Emmerer W., Albon W., Adaily M., and Joseph S., 3 of them, Alvern, M. Reeder. Albon Wilder and Adaily M. Harrold, are still living. She shared the trials (?vicisitudes) of this wife.of a traveling preacher. In the early settlements of this country for 11 years. After which they settled ona farm in the southern part of Edinburgh Township. where they themselves built a home. She was a kind affectionate mother. Having experienced religion early in life, she lived a life of faith in her Savior and died, age 87 years December 9 1900 The last few years of her was spent with her daugheer Adaily Harrold (in Mich) who tenderly cared for her in her declining years and has brought her here to bury her among the friends of her old home.
