C. Blair Memorial Hospital at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 5, 1944, from injuries received Tuesday night in a mine operated by the Rockhill Coal and Iron Company. The miner sustained a broken pelvis when the locomotive on which he was traveling got out of control on a down grade and upset. Mr. Eshelman was attending to the fans and was working alone in the mine which does not operate at night. When he did not come out of the mine at 11:30 p.m., a search was begun. The injured man was conscious when found but could not tell just what time the accident took place. It had happened some time earlier in the evening. He was admitted to the J. C. Blair Memorial Hospital at 6 a.m. Wednesday. He had been employed by the Rockhill Coal and Iron Company for over fifteen years. Paul Reed Eshelman was born in Clearfield on January 28, 1904, the son of Amos J. and Judie Weimer Eshelman. On November 5, 1934, at Clearfield, he was united in marriage to Jennie M. Hoover, who survives with the following children: Cloyd, Margaret, Emma, Paul, and Alton, all at home. These brothers and sisters also survive: Miss Emma Eshelman, Altoona; Mrs. Charles Peters, Woodland; Ross B. Eshelman, Bigler; Charles C. Eshelman, Clearfield; and Marshal Eshelman, Altoona. Mr. Eshelman was of the Methodist faith. The body was prepared for burial by Robert E. Huff funeral service and was taken to Clearfield this morning. Funeral services will be held at the Nicholson funeral home, Clearfield, at 3:30 on Saturday, the Rev. W. W. Banks officiating. Interment will be made in the Hill Crest Cemetery, Clearfield.
