Myers, 81, formerly of Germany Valley and most recently a resident of Woodland Retirement Center, Orbisonia, died at 10:22 a.m., on Wednesday, January 21, 2009 at the center. A private funeral service will we held at the convenience of the family, with Pastor Ernie Dell officiating and interment in the Germany Valley Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Robert D. Heath Funeral Home, Mount Union. Mr. Myers was born on March 3, 1927, in Hill Valley, Shirley Township, Huntingdon Co., and was the son of the late Horace and Mary (Nelson) Myers. He was married to Joan (Shope) on September 23, 1950 in the Valley Point Church of the Brethren, Blacklog Valley. Mrs. Myers preceded him in death on March 29. 1982. He is survived by three children: Newton N. Myers and wife, Gloria of Hershey; Douglas E. Myers and wife, Debbi of Shirleysburg and Barbara J. Buttlar and husband, William of Savor, IL. There are eight grand- children and two great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters: Margaret Stetler of York and Lois Fultz of York. Mr. Myers was also preceded in death by a son, James E. Myers. He was a member of the Mount Union Presbyterian Church where he had served in the past as an elder, deacon and trustee. Mr. Myers had spent his entire life as a farmer. He was member of the Mount Union Area School Board, the Farm Bureau; the Holstein Assn. and was a former director for the Milk Cooperative. He was also a volunteer fire warden and in his early years had been a constable. He graduated from Mount Union High School. Memorial contributions can be made to: Presbyterian Church, P.O.
