SHOLLY Former State College School Teacher Ruth H. Sholly, 76, of HC 1, Box 24, Spruce Creek, died Thursday, June 26, 1997 at the Altoona Hospital. Mrs. Sholly was born October 30, 1920, in Philadelphia, the daughter of James A. and Pauline (Owens) Harter. She was married twice; first in 1946 to David K. Martin, who died in 1952; then on July 12, 1955 at Phoenixville, Pa., she married John R. Sholly, who survives. Also surviving are three sons, Warren C. Martin, Greenville, South Carolina; Richard C. Sholly, St. Petersburg, Florida; and Robert G. Sholly, Henderson, Kentucky; two daughters, April Martin Jeanette, Shawboro, North Carolina, and Wendy Martin Gardiner, Gloucester, Virginia; seven grandchildren; one great granddaughter, and one brother, James A. Harter, Knoxville, Tenn. Mrs. Sholly attended God's Missionary Church in Seven Stars. She was a graduate of Pennsylvania State University in 1942 with a degree in elementary education, and was a teacher in the Canton, Pa. and State College School Districts for several years. Funeral services for Mrs. Sholly will be held Monday, June 30, 1997 at 1 p.m. at the Derman Funeral Home, Inc., with the Rev. Nathan Shaffer officiating. Interment will be at Graysville Cemetery, Huntingdon County. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Monday, one hour before the time of the service. Tyrone Daily Herald, June 28, 1997
