Shultz Former executive director, Huntingdon County Housing Authority Rodney M. Shultz, 69, a resident of the Hollidaysburg Veterans Home, Hollidaysburg, and formerly of 512 13th Street, Huntingdon, died at 3:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 11, 2007, at the Hollidaysburg Veterans Hospital. Born May 25, 1937, in Huntingdon, he was a son of the late Maurice H. and S. Jeanne (Litzenberger) Shultz. Mr. Shultz is survived by a sister and two brothers, Mary Jane (Shultz) Mater and husband, Jeff, and Don Shultz and wife, Linda, all of Alexandria; and Phil Shultz and wife, Pat, Bellefonte. He was preceded in death by a son, Steven Shultz. Mr. Shultz was a member of the Stone Church of the Brethren, Huntingdon, during his youth. He served in the United States Army, assigned to the 501st Administrative Co., 1st Armored Division, Fort Polk, La. Mr. Shultz was a former member of the former Junior Chamber of Commerce, Huntingdon. In his youth, he was a member of the Order of DeMolay and later a member of the Mount Union Lodge, F&AM. He attended Huntingdon public schools and graduated from Huntingdon High School with high honors in 1955. Following his military basic training in Fort Jackson, S.C., he attended finance school at Fort Benjamin Harrison, Indiana. During high school Mr. Shultz worked for Hilly's Drugstore and the A&P Market, both of Huntingdon. After his military service, he went into banking, being promoted to branch manager of the Mount Union branch of the Union National Bank. He was subsequently employed as a state bank examiner and as the executive director of the Huntingdon County Housing Authority. He enjoyed hunting with his grandfather, Herman Shultz, and fishing with his other grandfather, Clarence Litzenberger. He loved listening to gospel music and singing along with many of his old-time favorites. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 15, at the John B. Brown Funeral Home, 417 Washington St., Huntingdon, with the Rev. John C. Dean officiating. Interment will be made in the Old Stone Church Cemetery, James Creek, Penn Township.
