"Dick/Bob" VARNER, 70, P.O. Box 133, Mill Stone Trailer Park, Mill Creek, died unexpectedly at 7:30 a.m. Thursday, April 22, 2004, at the J.C. Blair Hospital, Huntingdon. Born Oct. 17, 1933, in Altoona, he was the son of Mary E. (Pagenta) Varner of Mount Union, and the late William T. Varner. He was married to former Carolyn J. Varner on July 12, 1965, in Huntingdon. Mrs. Varner survives at their home. Also surviving are one daughter, Christy A. Varner at home and the following brothers and sisters, Stewart Varner, Mulberry, Fla.; John Varner, Connellys Springs, N.C.; Rose "Rosie" Parks, Burnham; Shirley Varner, Rochester,N.Y., and Jeanette Varner Bennion, Mount Union. He was preceded death by one brother, Bruce Varner, and infant sister, Anna Mary Varner. Mr. Varner retired in 1982 as manager of Minute Man Service Station in Rochester, N.Y., and prior to that he worked for Fashion Clothing Manufacturing, also in Rochester. Prior to all that Mr. Varner travel and work with James E. Straight Show in his early adult years. Mr. Varner enjoyed helping out others and was an avid New York Yankees and professional wresting fan. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 26, at the Robert D. Health Funeral Home, Mount Union with the Rev. Raymond Crownover officiating. Interment will be in the Newton Hamilton Memorial Cemetery.
