A son of Lawrence H. and Bessie Forsha Bergman, he was born June 30, 1920, at Blairsville. Mr. Bergman was a member of the Christ Episcopal Church, Indiana, where he served as vestery member and Junior and Senior Warden. He also served as lay reader in the Diocese of Pittsburgh. Mr. Bergman was a life member of the Elks Club, Lewistown and of the VFW, Indiana Post. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, Indiana, Swiss Alpine Club of Zermatt, Switzerland; Lewistown Lodge No. 203 F. and A.M.; Royal Arch Chapter No. 186; Juniata Valley Council No 64; Lewistown Knights Templar No. 26, Jaffa Shrine Temple, Altoona; Indiana County Shrine Club; United Commercial Travelers; and a life member of the National Rifle Association. A veteran of World War II, Mr. Bergman was awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. He was a 1938 graduate of Blairsville High School and a graduate of San Mateo Junior College, California; Indiana University of Pennsylvania; and Penn State University. Surviving are his wife, Betty Frederic Bergman; two daughters, Mrs. Edwin (Susan E ) Zylka of Mt. Pleasant and Margaret D. Bergman of Indiana; three granddaughters; and a brother, Byron W. Bergman of New Bethlehem. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother, Glenn H. Bergman. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 pm Friday in the Ferguson-Helm Funeral Home, Blairsville. Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. in St. Peter's Episcopal Church, Blairsville. Father Arthur C. Dilg will be the celebrant. Interment will be in Blairsville Cemetery. Masonic services will be held at 7:30 pm Friday in the funeral home. The family suggests that memorial donations be made to Christ Episcopal Church, Indiana.
