Miss Mattie Dickson, of near Twolick, a young lady well-known in Indiana, was found dead in her bed on last Friday morning [16 August 1895 - ed.]. She had been complaining for several days of not feeling well, but when she retired on Thursday evening she appeared in her usual health. About 5 on Friday morning her brother, Samuel, came down stairs and was surprised to find that his sister had not preceded him, as usual. He performed some chores about the house and finally went to his sister's room to awaken her, when he found her cold in death. In the house at the time were the hired man and Rev. Mr. Osborne, a Free Methodist minister who had been holding meetings in that vicinity, and of which denomination Miss Dickson was an ardent follower. The hired man says he heard Miss Dickson moaning during the night, but paid no attention to it. Dr. Purington arrived at the house shortly after the body was discovered, and pronounced death due to heart failure. The funeral was held on Monday morning. Services which were conducted by Rev. Osborne, were held at the house at 9:30, after which interment was made in Oakland cemetery. Deceased was aged about 44 years, and is survived by two brothers, James, the well-known Philadelphia traveling man, and Samuel who resided on the homestead with his sister.
