He was born Nov. 16, 1922, in Grove City, a son of the late Ralph L. and Dorothy Turner English. A member of the American Legion Post 57 of Saltsburg, the Coral Graceton Sportsmen Club, the Red Barn Sportsmen Club and Black Lick Sportsmen Club, he was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U. S. Army Calvary. He was preceded in death by one son, Alvin E., May 30, 1970. Surviving are his wife, Goldie Shirley English; one daughter, Mrs. Edward (Sandy) Sulkosky of Torrance; two grandchildren; three brothers, James English of Los Angeles, Calif., Joseph English of Paradise, Pa., and Richard Shaffer of Saltsburg RD 3, and one sister, Mrs. Henry (Jean) Hillard of Erie. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in Richard L. Shoemaker Funeral Home, Blairsville, where a service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday with the Rev. Michael Avila officiating. Interment will follow in Mount Tabor Cemetery, West Wheatfield Township.
