The son of Metro and Anna Litivin Varholick, he was born April 21, 1917, in Tyler. He was a member of UMWA Local 488 of Lucernemines and was a retired coal miner, having been employed by the R&P Coal Compa- ny. He had also worked for the Galls niachine Shop in Ernest. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Frances Johnstone Varholick; and these children: Geneva and hus- band, Thomas Shannon, Coy; Mi- chael Varholick and wife, Joann, Columbia Station, Ohio; Helen and husband, John Tedeski, Homer City; and Pauletta Kislak, Coy; nine grandchildren and seven great- grandchildren; two brothers: Frank arholick and wife, Mary Ann, Ho- mer City, and Joseph Varholick, Bedford, Ohio; and five sisters: Mary Barna, Tonawanda, N.Y.; Ann Bazale, Riddot, Ill.; Susan Regetz, Manville, N.J.; Helen and husband, William Yensco, Flint, Mich.; and Pauline and husband, James Hurt, Green Valley, Ariz. He was preceded in death by his parents; one grandson, Daniel Kis- iak; and two brothers, John and George. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the C. Frederick Bowser Funeral Home, Homer City, where services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday. Pastor Mark Vislosky will officiate and interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Indiana. A tree will be planted in living memory of Mike Varholick.
