Whereupon the Court appoint the said Samuel Mohler Guardian over the person and estate of the said William Dean during his minority or until another Guardian or Guardians be appointed in his room. --------------------------------------- February 1821 Caleb Dean On the Petition of William Dean, a minor Son of Caleb Dean late of Earl Township Lancaster County, deceased above the age of 14 years praying the Court to appoint a Guardian over the person and estate of the said William Dean, and prays that George Verns of the same place may be appointed. Whereupon the Court appoints the said George Verns Guardian over the person and estate of the said William Dean during his minority or until another Guardian or Guardians be appointed in his room. [probably George Verns is George Werntz - see 1822 documents] --------------------------------------- June 1821 Caleb Dean deceased Samuel Mohler Samuel Miller Administrator of the estate of Caleb Dean late of Earl Township Lancaster County deceased, having stated and filed in the Registers Office at Lancaster the Administration account on the estate of the said deceased, due & legal notice being given by the said Register, the same is now produced to the Court for Confirmation; whereby it appears that the said account was duly passed by the said Register and their remains in the hands of the said accountant a Balance of $2249..201/2 Cents The Court upon due examination and Advisement had thereon approved and Confirmed the same and direct the Balance after deducting therefrom $1 the expence of this Court the remainder amounting to Two thousand two hundred forty eight Dollars & twenty & one half Cents to be distributed according to Law. ---------------------------------------- May 11th 1822 Caleb Dean On the Petition of William Dean Only Son of Caleb Dean late of Earl Township Lancaster County deceased, Setting Forth That the said Caleb Dean lately died intestate seised in his demesne as of fee of land in a certain plantation or Tract of land situate in formerly Earl now Cocalico Township adjoining lands of Jacob Shirk, Philip Killian, Abraham Killian, Abraham Sweigart and others Containing twelve Acres and ____ perches be the same more of less with the(?) appurtenances leaving issue your petitioner and one daughter named Mary now intermarried with William Werntz(?); That your petitioner is desirous of having his share in the estate in Severalty to be ascertained by an Inquest to be awarded by this Court, He therefore respectfully prays your honors to award an Inquest to view the said premises and ascertain whether the same can be divided between all the Children of the said deceased without prejudice to and spoiling the whole and if they find the same can be so divided that they make partition accordingly by metes and bounds, but if they find the same cannot be so divided that then they well and truly inquire whether the same will con??iently accommodate more than one of the Children of the said deceased that then they will and truly partition the same accordingly by metes and bounds and well and truly appraise each purport, but if they find that the same cannot be so divided without prejudice to the spoiling of the whole, that then they will well and truly value and appraise the whole of the said premises with the appurtenances and make report of their proceedings to the next Orphans Court to be holdin on the third Monday of June next. Inquest awarded, Judges present Franklin and Dole(?), June 20th, 1822 on Motion of W. Porter the Inquest awarded at last Court Continued returnable on the 3rd Monday in August next ----------------------------------- September 1822 Caleb Dean dec'd William Dean Only Son of Caleb Dean late of Earl township Lancaster County, Carries into Court and agrees to accept the real of his late father at the appraisiment made thereof by an Inquest on the second day of August last past for the sum of twelve hundred fifty six dollars & twenty five Cents lawful money of the United States, which inquisition being read was Confirmed by the Court of the thirty first day of August last past; The Court confirm the said Real estate accepted by the said William Dean only Son of the said deceased, to his heirs & assigns in fee; upon Condition that the said William Dean shall pay, or secure to be paid to the other Child and legal representative of the said deceased her several(?) and respective share of and in the valuation money of the said real estate, so accepted by him on or before the first day of April A.D. 1824 with interest for the same from the first day of April next, then this Recognizance to be void, otherwise of force; William Dean tent(?) in $2600) To Walter Franklin Esq'r President Judge of the Orphans Abraham Killian tent(?) in $2600) Court of the County of Lancaster and his successors in Office for the ??? of all persons interested Conditioned to pay as aforesaid. --------------------------------------- September 17, 1822 Caleb Dean deceased, Copied At the instance of William Dean and On motion of G. B. Porter Esq'r The Court award a Citation to George Werntz Guardian of William Dean a minor Son of Caleb Dean late of Earl township in said County deceased, to settle his Guardianship account on the twenty eighth instant on the estate of the said William Dean and abide the Judgment of the Court thereon. hereof fail not at your peril.
