"Peanut" Achenbach, 74, of 300 Poplar St., Lebanon, died Tuesday, December 25, 2007, in ManorCare, Lebanon. He was the husband of Ruth Ann Sholley Achenbach, with whom he was married to for 49 years. He was born September 28, 1933, in Lebanon, a son of the late Ernest R. and Ellen P. Donmoyer Achenbach. He was an administrative assistant, retiring from Indiantown Gap. He was a member of Hebron United Methodist Church, Lebanon, Friendship Fire Co., Jonestown American Legion and LeBlanc Hunting Lodge, Lycoming County. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. Surviving in addition to his wife are daughter, Susan M. Witmer, Lebanon; grandchildren, Michael P., husband of Natalie Witmer, Adrianne Speraw, Danielle Moralles; great-grandchildren, Mario, Asacia, Jayden; brother, Neil Achenbach, Maryland; sisters, Shirley Mehler, Lebanon, Barbara Lehman, Hummelstown. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Debra L. Speraw; brothers, William, Vernon and Ernest Achenbach Jr. Memorial service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the Rohland Funeral Home, 508 Cumberland St., Lebanon, with a visitation beginning one hour prior to the service.
