Marlin H. Marlin Heisey, 87, of Palmyra, passed away on Saturday, June 13, 2009, in the Lebanon Valley Brethren Home. He leaves behind his loving wife Dorothy (Smith) Heisey. He was born June 27, 1921, in Upper Lawn to the late George B. and Dessie (Oberholtzer) Heisey. Marlin earned a bachelor's degree from Elizabethtown College and a master's degree from Temple University. He started his career in teaching then transitioned to principal of East Hanover Elementary School in Dauphin County. He later joined the Northern Lebanon School District as principal of the four elementary schools. Marlin later became superintendent of the NLSD, a position from which he retired in 1981. Marlin was a member of Palmyra First E.C. Church where he taught Sunday School and served faithfully in various leadership positions. He was an active member of The Gideons International and was a board member of Palmyra Interfaith Manor. He was trustee emeritus of the Evangelical Theological Seminary in Myerstown and a former board member of Philhaven. He is survived by two children, son Terry M. Heisey of Lebanon and daughter Dawn H. (Heisey) Walmer and her husband Darrell of Palmyra; two grandsons, Daniel and Andrew Walmer of Palmyra; two brothers, J. Earl Heisey and wife Helen of Palmyra and Harold G. Heisey and wife Ardeth of Harrisburg. Relatives and friends are invited for a time of viewing on Tuesday, June 16, 2009, from 9:3011:00 AM at the Palmyra First E.C. Church, W. Main & College St., Palmyra. Funeral services will be held in the church at 3:00 PM with burial immediately following in Gravel Hill Cemetery, Palmyra. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Gideons International, P.O. Box 465, Palmyra, PA 17078 or the Palmyra First E.C. Church.
