  Ruth E. Rhoads LEBANON Ruth E. Rhoads, 93, formerly of Palmyra died Monday, 
  October 5, 2009, at the Good Samaritan Hospital, Lebanon. Born October 8, 1915, 
  in Hanoverdale, she was a daughter of the late Frank E. and Katie (Gingrich) 
  Fureman and was the widow of Lloyd E. Rhoads, who died in 1987. She retired as 
  assistant manager from the Palmyra Area School District Cafeteria with 27 years 
  of employment. A 1934 graduate of Hershey High School, she was a member of 
  Palmyra Church of the Brethren and the Lebanon Valley Brethren Home Auxiliary. 
  She was also a volunteer at the Lebanon Valley Brethren Home, serving 3,383 
  hours. Surviving are her daughters, Betty R., wife of David H. Bucher of 
  Hendersonville, N.C., and Bonnie M. Rhoads of Palmyra; brothers, Brian Fureman, 
  Melvin Fureman, Delbert Fureman, and Warren Fureman; sister, Esther Umberger; 
  grandchildren, David Bucher, Michael Bucher, and Kirsten Szendrey; and great-
  grandchildren, Kathryn Bucher, Christopher Bucher, Rachel Szendrey, Emily 
  Szendrey, and Laura Szendrey. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, 
  October 11, 2009, at the DiMatteo Worship Center of the Lebanon Valley Brethren 
  Home, 1200 Grubb St., Palmyra, preceded by a visitation from 1 p.m. Interment 
  will be at the convenience of the family in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, 
  Harrisburg. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Palmyra 
  Church of the Brethren, 45 N. Chestnut St., Palmyra, PA 17078; or the Good 
  Samaritan Fund, c/o Lebanon Valley Brethren Home, 1200 Grubb St., Palmyra, PA 
  17078.
