Esther F. Thomasco, 86, of Lancaster died Monday, April 6, 2009, in the Brethren Village, Lancaster. She was born in Cleona, Pa., on March 7, 1923, daughter of the late Joseph Umberger Frantz and Mable Hernley Frantz. She was a 1941 graduate of Lebanon High School and a member of Lancaster Church of the Brethren. She was formerly a pediatric nurse's aid at Lancaster General Hospital. Esther loved cooking for her family. She also enjoyed bowling in her church league, playing pinochle, volunteering in the church nursery and visiting shut-ins. She is survived by her son, Terry F. Thomasco, and his dear companion, Sharon Osterhout of Fogelsville, Pa.; daughter Barbara T., wife of Michael K. Brown of Lancaster; grandsons Curtis M. Thomasco, Ryan F. Thomasco; granddaughter Stephanie J. Thomasco; greatgranddaughters Phoebe L. Thomasco, Lyla J. Thomasco; brother-inlaw Mark Allwein; and three nieces, Elinor Yingst, Ruth Firestone and Carol Combs. She was preceded in death by her sister, Helen Allwein. Funeral services and interment will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Lancaster Church of the Brethren, 1601 Sunset Ave., Lancaster, PA 17068.
