"Bill" William D. Zimmerman William D. "Bill" Zimmerman, 85, of 226 Super Drive, Dornsife, died Saturday, March 14, 2009, at the VA Medical Center, Lebanon, where he was a patient since March 3, 2009. Born in Pottsville on July 16, 1923, he was a son of the late William and Ruth (Warrnock) Zimmerman. On May 10, 1952, he married the former Donna Neilson, who survives. He was a educated in the Pottsville area schools. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Navy. He was first employed by the Boeing Company at Ridley Park, Pa., then owned and operated Hotel 35 at Mount Pleasant, Pa., and last owned and operated The Carriage House at Klingerstown. He enjoyed hunting. He was of the Lutheran faith, and a member of the Valley Lodge No. 797 F & AM of Valley View, the Williamsport Consistory, the Disabled American Veterans, and the Fleet Reserve. Surviving in addition to his wife, Donna, are six children and spouses, Jeanne Bankes of Boothwyn, Donna Daley of Brookhaven, William Zimmerman and Louann Wolfe of Elizabethville, Eva and Charles Scull of Aston, Ruthann and Paul Stiely of Klingerstown, and Helen Zimmerman of Naples, Florida; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by four sisters and three brothers. Viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the Stephen R. Rothermel Funeral Home, 1133 Ridge Road, Klingerstown, and Wednesday, from 10 to 11 a.m. in the funeral home, followed by the funeral at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Mark Rothermel officiating. Burial with military honors in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
