Barry, Sr., 79, of 407 Poplar St., passed away Thursday, January 21, 2010, at the VA Medical Center, Lebanon. He was the husband of Rose Marie (Eckenroth) Barry. They celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary August 13, 2009. Joseph was born in Lebanon, on October 17, 1930. He was a son of the late Joseph F. and Ethel J. (Himmelberger) Barry. He was a 1948 graduate of Lebanon Catholic High School. He worked as a Medical Records Technician at the Lebanon VA Hospital for 31 years. He also worked at the Dauphin Deposit Bank as a messenger and Zweiers Foodcart as a stock person. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He was a member of St. Mary's Church and the Friendship Fire Co. In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children, Joseph J. Jr., husband of Deborah Burns-Barry of York, Kathleen B., wife of Denis A. Kulbitsky of Lebanon, Deborah B., wife of William Strynkowski of Palmyra, and Carol B., wife of Jeff Dentler of Richmond, Va.; a brother, James H. Barry of Harrisburg; a sister, Colleen Rudegeair of Lebanon; a son-in-law, C. Clair McCormick of Lancaster; eight grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Beth (Barry) McCormick, on December 3, 2005; and a brother, Patrick Barry on September 22, 2007. Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, January 26, at 9:30 a.m. from St. Mary's Church, 2 N. 8th St., Lebanon, 17046. Interment at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery with full military honors. Visitation hours Tuesday morning 8:30 to 9:30 at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either the St. Mary's Church; The Good Samaritan Hospital Hospice, 202 Hathaway Park, Lebanon, PA 17042; or the Lebanon VA Medical Center Hospice, 1700 S. Lincoln Ave., Lebanon, PA 17042. Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. is in charge of arrangements.
