  Carroll L. Gemmill 
   
  YORK Carroll L. Gemmill, 79, died Saturday evening at his residence. Born May 
  1, 1931, in York, he was a son of the late Harry L. and Florence (Bauchman) 
  Gemmill. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 39 years of employment. 
  He was known for his kindness toward both people and animals. His greatest joy 
  was making people happy. Mr. Gemmill is survived by his significant other of 43 
  years, Richard A. Bentzel of York; a sister, Marian Hartman and her husband, 
  Harvey of Lebanon; a nephew, Dr. Richard Hartman and his wife, Barbara of New 
  Jersey; three nieces, Debbie Smith and her husband, Michael of Hanover, Judy 
  Brightbill and her husband, Bob of Lebanon, and Kay Tucker of Washington D.C.; 
  three great-nephews, Matt Smith and his companion, Bri Rebert of Hanover, and 
  Matthew and Jonathan Brightbill, both of Lebanon; a great-niece, Adrienne 
  Tucker of Washington D.C.; and his beloved dogs, Ethel and Freddie. He was 
  preceded in death by two brothers, Roland Gemmill and Harry Gemmill; and a 
  nephew, Michael Hartman. Funeral services and burial will be private. Kuhner 
  Associates Funeral Directors, Inc., 863 S. George St., York (the former Hahn 
  Home) is in charge of arrangements.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions 
  may be made to The Humane Society of the United States, 210 L St., NW, 
  Washington, D.C. 20037; or VNA Hospice Services of York, 540 S. George St., 
  York, PA 17403.
