Books Borrego SAN ANTONIO, TX Donna Kay Books Borrego, 59, died Friday, February 4, 2011. She was born in Lebanon, to Donald "Tony" and Lois (Long) Books. Donna attended Annville-Cleona High School where she participated in cheerleading and field hockey, played the clarinet in the concert band, and was class treasurer. She graduated in 1969 and, after obtaining her education/training, initially worked as a licensed vocational nurse in Hershey and later in Boston, Mass. Donna attended Boston College and graduated in 1983, receiving a BSN. While both were students in Boston, she and her future husband, Robert Borrego, met and later married in 1985. Soon after the birth of their daughter, they moved to Lebanon. After the birth of their son they moved to San Antonio, Texas, her husband's hometown. Here Donna retained devotion to raising her two children, being a loving wife and mother. Donna relished in motherhood, taking a great passion in making her family happy. She always assisted with children's activities, was very supportive, never missing events. She was an active member of University United Methodist Church, a member of Centennial Sunday School class, and the Chancel Choir. Donna was also a member of the Bexar County Medical Alliance. She also assisted as a Registered Nurse in her husband's internal medicine practice, as an advocate of proper nutrition and assured other proper habits for their patients. Donna loved spending time with her family, reading, being outdoors, listening to music, singing, baking, supporting athletics, and writing. She was a fan of the following teams: Boston College, Penn State, Spurs, Eagles, and Phillies. Donna remained strong in her faith despite any circumstances which occurred. She especially remained strong and optimistic throughout her cancer treatments and always thought about others. Donna will be remembered as a devoted, loving wife and mother whose main passion was her family. She was preceded in death by her father, Donald "Tony" Books. Donna is survived by her husband, Dr. Robert Borrego, III; children, Adrienne Books- Borrego Horn and husband, Jeremy, and Robert Anthony Borrego, IV; mother, Lois Jean Books; brother, Barry Books and wife, Mary Jane; and numerous other loving family members. The family will receive friends at Porter Loring Mortuary, 1101 McCullough Ave., San Antonio, today from 6 to 8 p.m. The service will be held Friday at 10:30 a.m. at University United Methodist Church, 5084 De Zavala Road, San Antonio.
