Gallagher, USMC, 82, passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on Sunday, May 20, 2012 in Palmyra. He was born Tuesday, April 29, 1930 in Middletown, to the late Walter R. and Helen (Lenker) Gallagher. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Mildred (Lawson) Gallagher. He was a retired U.S. Marine Corps Veteran, with 23 years of service, including Korea and Vietnam. He was a member and Past Commander, in 1979, of the Elizabethtown American Legion, Post 329. He is survived by three daughters, Kathrine S. Bradley and husband Roy of Hamburg, Betsy Gallagher of Bainbridge, and Margaret A. Conforti and husband Kristopher of Palmyra; one son, Michael W. Gallagher and wife Sandy of Cornwall; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two sisters. He was predeceased by a brother and a sister. A memorial service will be held Monday, June 4th at 7 p.m. at Rothermel Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 25 W. Pine St., Palmyra, 17078 with Father David L. Danneker, Ph.D officiating. Family and friends are invited for visitation from 6 p.m. until time of the service. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. His family would like to thank Misty Parker, Kasey Hoyer and their family for the compassionate and loving care they provided over the course of his illness.
