M. shabodeho@aol.com July 15, 2012, 4:15 pm Published in Lebanon Daily News on June 26, 2012 LEBANON Delmas M. Hernley, 86, passed away on Sunday, June 24, 2012, at his home. He was the husband of the late MaryAnn Richard Hernley who passed away on January 24th. Born in Jackson Twp., on February 15, 1926, he was the son of the late Irvin and Sallie L. Stahl Hernley. He retired in 1996 from his dairy and hog farming and he served as a Bethel Twp., Supervisor along with several other positions in the Twp. for 24 years. He was a member of the St. John's Lutheran Church, Fredericksburg. He served on the Board of Directors for the Farmer's Union Dairy in Reading and was a former member of the Chester White Breeders Assoc., the Fredericksburg Fire Co., and a lifetime member of the Holstein Assoc. Delmas also served on the Lebanon Co. Conservation Comm. and was instrumental in the founding of the NL Young Farmer's Association. He is survived by his son Shawn D. husband of Karen Hernley of Lebanon; daughters, Carmelle J. Hernley of Lebanon, Heather L. wife of Steve Sharer of Laceyville; grandchildren Merritt, Amber and Miranda Hernley and Kyle and Richard Sharer and great-grandchildren, Makenzie and Jayden West. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Wanda Mae Hernley; brothers, Irvin, Melvin and Norman Hernley; and sisters, Dorothy Krumbine, Erma Galebaugh, Geneva Myers and Alma Stoessel. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. at the St. John's Lutheran Church, Fredericksburg. Viewing will be held on Thursday evening from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Kreamer & Lum Funeral Home & Crematory, Rt. 72 & Camp Meeting Rd., Jonestown, and one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Fredericksburg. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to his church, Fredericksburg, Pa.
