M shabodeho@aol.com September 16, 2012, 10:31 am Published in Lebanon Daily News on September 2, 2012 CORNWALL Frank C. Karinch passed away Saturday, September 1, 2012, in Manor Care, Lebanon. He was the husband of the late Mary (Fillak) Karinch. Frank was born in Cornwall, on April 25, 1923, a son of the late Maximillian and Lucy (Drogan) Karinch. After graduating from Cornwall High School in 1941, Frank worked in the Cornwall mines and played for Cornwall A.C. He fought in WWII, recieiving not only a Purple Heart but also a Bronze Star. He later played for the Boson Red Sox from 1946-1947. Frank was the former owner and operator of the Blue Bird Tavern from 1950 until his retirement in 1990. He was an avid golfer, hunter, fisherman and he loved Notre Dame. Frank was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Cornwall. Surviving is a sister-in-law; Anne Karinch and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by nine siblings; Luba, Mary, Anna, Louise, Joseph, Matthew, John, Steven and Karl. Frank was the last of his immediate family. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, September 5, 2012, at 10 a.m. from Sacred Heart Church 2596 Cornwall Rd. Cornwall, PA. 17016. Interment will be on Holy Savior Cemetery will full military honors. Visitation hours will be Wednesday from 9 to 10 a.m. in the social hall of the church. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Lebanon VA Hospice, Lebanon, Pa. Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. is entrusted with the arrangements.
