Keifer, Jr., 85, of Spencer St., passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, June 3, 2012. Friends are invited to attend calling hours from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday and a service on Friday at 10 a.m., both at Weeks- Keysor Funeral Home, 5 Phelps St., Lyons. Burial will be in Rural Cemetery, Lyons, N.Y. William "Bill" was born July 20, 1926, in Lebanon, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. W. Lewis Keifer, Sr. He served our country as a Military Policeman and a message carrier in the Army Air Force during World War II and was stationed in the Philippines. He was a graduate of Penn State University and had many hobbies; among them were boating, hunting, fishing, and woodworking, particularly building Pinewood Derby cars, boats and model aircraft. He had a long career as a mechanical engineer. He was previously employed by Comstock Foods, Curtis Burns, and Duffy Mott. He visited almost every state with the military or with his job and also took several trips to Europe. He attended the First Presbyterian Church of Lyons. He is predeceased by the love of his life, Rosalyn C. Keifer and by his brother, Frederic J. Keifer. He is survived by his children, Susan (Karl) Bechler, Patricia (Joseph) Cavinee, Rebecca (Robert) Hauf, William (Cheryl) Keifer, and Amy (John) Rodriguez; 16 grandchildren, Joshua, Justin, Jacob and Jaimie Cavinee, Robert William, Daniel and Emily Hauf, Tara, Beth, Katie, Madison and Logan Keifer, Adriana, Gabriel, John and Ricky Rodriguez; one great-grandson, Brayden; two sisters-in-law, Joanne Keifer and Kathryn Zehnder; several nieces and nephews; and his cat, Hisser. Bill was a great Dad and Grandpa, he was very loving, fun to be around, and engineer extraordinaire! He will be missed dearly by his family and friends.
