(Fox) Wagner, 89, passed away Sunday, January 1, 2012, at Hershey Medical Center. She was the wife of Rufus H. Wagner, who died February 13, 1996. Born in Mt. Pleasant, she was the daughter of the late Lemuel R. and Ida M. (Shaffer) Fox. Doris was a longtime active member, organist, and choir member at the Little Swatara Church of the Brethren, Rehrersburg. She earned an associate's degree at Elizabethtown College, and she worked for a year at the Brethren Publishing House in Elgin, Ill. She was a bookkeeper for the family business, Rufus H. Wagner Auto Sales, Robesonia, and retired as a cafeteria worker in the Conrad Weiser School District. She was a caring, compassionate, and loving mother, grandmother, and friend. She had a listening ear and helping hand for others in her family, church, and community. She is survived by two sons, Paul R. Wagner, husband of Leslie of Boalsburg, and Nevin W. Wagner, husband of Sharon of Manheim; a daughter, Sue Wagner Fields, wife of Damon of Elizabethtown; a sister, Sara Smeltzer of Greensburg; seven grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Elinor Leeper, Helen Weaver, and Elberta Hursh. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Little Swatara Church of the Brethren, Rehrersburg, with her pastor, the Rev. Robert W. Krouse, officiating. Friends are invited to call from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Hill Funeral Home, Rehrersburg, and 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at church. Burial will be in Frystown Cemetery. The family wishes to thank all of the excellent and caring physicians, nurses, and staff of the Hershey Medical Center.
