He was born in Swamptown, Jeddo. a son of the late Nicholas and Anna (Danko) Yalch, and had resided in Freeland most of his life. Prior to his retirement, be had been employed as a miner for the Jeddo-Highland Coal Co. He was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption B C Church, Freeland. His wife, the former Anna Mattis, died in May 1952. He also was preceded in death by a brother and sister, John and Helen Yalch. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Anna Banyas, Berwick; five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; a brother, Nicholas Yalch, Freeland; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be held Saturday at 8:30 a.m. from the McNulty Funeral Home, Freeland, followed by Divine Liturgy with the Office of Christian Burial at 9 o'clock in St. Mary of the Assumption B.C. Church, Freeland. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Drums. Friends may call Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A parastas service will be conducted by the Rev. Leonard Hollick. The rosary also will be recited on Friday.
