Roper, a well known resident of Ferguson Valley, near Ellen Chapel, died on Monday evening. Deceased had been failing in health for some time, but had been confined to his bed but a few days. He was a son of the late Joseph L. Roper of Belleville, and a man with a well-informed mind and many genial qualities. He was a veteran of the late war and a member of Col. Huling's Post. The Post will attend the funeral to-day (Thursday); interment in St. Mark's cemetery. Deceased is survived by a wife (daughter of the late Joseph Snyder), one son and two daughters.
