(Stroudsburg, Pa.) 1853-1911: December 12, 1861 At his residence, in Stroud township, on Monday evening last, James N. Durling, Esq., in the 46th year of his age. The death of Mr. Durling has cast a gloom over our community. Though he had been a sufferer for over a year, and his disease, hemorrhage of the lungs, was of such a character as to have rendered his death likely to occur at any moment, the snapping of the chord on Monday evening, was heard with sadness by everybody. The deceased was probably as well and as favorably known throughout our county as any other man in it, and, at the lime of his death, was holding the office of Sheriff for the second term. As a faithful public officer, as an enterprising citizen, as an agreeable companion, as a warm and ardent friend, and as a kind husband and father, James N. Durling will long be missed by the community, by his associates and by his family. The deceased will be buried from his residence with Masonic honors, this afternoon at 2 o'clock.
