Jeffersonian Republican. (Stroudsburg, Pa.) 1853-1911: March 21, 1872
On Saturday morning, March 9th, 1872, at Yankee Settlement, Delaware county, Iowa,
Stroud Rees, aged 77 years and 3 days. The deceased was a native of this place and
was a grandson of Col. Jacob Stroud, the founder of this place, and a son of Samuel
Rees, Esqr., formerly Deputy Surveyor of Northampton county. He moved west in 1846,
leaving two of his children, Mrs. Stull, at Stoddartsville and our townsman Wm. S.
Rees, Esqr.
