From the New Bloomfield Advocate and Press we learn that on last Monday evening Mr. Alexander Shortess died of heart trouble, of which he had long been a sufferer, at his home in Centre township, Perry county. He was aged 59 years. The Advocate and Press gives the following additional particulars: Deceased was a son of the late Thomas Shortess by his third wife, and had been a resident of Centre township all his days. He was married to a Miss Isabel Toland, of Allen's Cove, Penn township, this county, his wife preceding him to the spirit world March 4, 1888; no children resulted from this union. He is survived by Rev. S. I. Shortess, of East Point, Tioga county, Pa., and Mrs. B. F. Clegg, of Altoona, Pa. In the war of the rebellion Mr. Shortess enlisted under Captain James H. Marshall, in company I, Two Hundred and Eighth Pennsylvania volunteers on August 31, 1864, and was discharged by general order on May 30, 1865.
