All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/perry/ _______________________________________________ Harvey Sweigart Mr. Harvey Eugene Sweigart, 59, of Liverpool RD 1, died on Saturday, Jan. 16 at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, where he had been admitted earlier in the day. He was in failing health for a number of years being hospitalized for an extended period of time. Death was attributed to a heart condition. He was born on Oct. 8, 1911 at Liverpool RD 1, the son of the late Henry J. and Emma E. Funk Sweigart. He was educated in the Perry County schools, after which he farmed and was also employed by the Pennsylvania Railroad as a trackman on the Middle Division. After 1957 he went to work for the Pennsylvania Department of Highways working there till ill health forced his retirement. On Jan. 7, 1936, he was united in marriage with the former Mary Ellen Hoffman. He was a member of the Barner's Lutheran Church and Sunday School, Liverpool, the Liverpool Fire Company and the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen. Mr. Sweigart is survived in addition to his wife by six daughter (sic), Miss Beatrice Sweigart of Millerstown RD 2; Romaine, wife of Edward Klinger, Liverpool RD 1; Geraldine, wife of Charles Miller, Harrisburg; Emma, wife of Leroy Bordner, Mount Pleasant Mills RD 1, and Miss Shirley Sweigart at home; six sons, Lester H. Sweigart of Lebanon, Harvey E. Sweigart Jr. of Liverpool, RD 1; Sgt. Frank R. Sweigart, serving with the U.S. Army in Germany, SP 4 Robert L. Sweigart, serving with the U.S. Army at Fort Dix, N.J. and Charles H. and George W. Sweigart, both at home; 13 grandchildren; two sisters, Mary, wife of George Spicher, Millerstown RD 2, and Mildred, wife of Albert Kantz, Selinsgrove RD 2; three brothers, Jacob Sweigart of Willow Grove, Pa., Clayton Sweigart of Selinsgrove RD 2 and John Sweigart of Liverpool RD 1; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two daughters, four sisters and three brothers. Funeral services were conducted on Wednesday at 2 p.m. from the Barner's Lutheran Church, Liverpool with Rev. J. Kenneth Barner officiating, assisted by Mr. Sweigart's pastor, Rev. Theodore Lindquist Jr. Interment followed in Barner's Church Cemetery.
