D 52nd Regiment Virginia Infantry * On Muster Roll dated Dec. 1, 1862 he joined company July 13, 1862 at Camp Allegheny Mountain * Absent without leave from July 17 to August, amount to be deducted $5.50 * On Muster Roll dated Feb. 23, 1863 he was present in arrest * No Muster Roll dated Apr. 30, 1863 he was fined by Court Martial 7 month and 3 days in addition 16 days absent without leave 7 months and 19 days $83.60; Re-enlist bounty due $50 * Muster Roster dated Aug. 31 and Oct. 31,1863 he is listed as deserted July 14, 1863 * Muster Roll dated Oct. 31, 1864 lists him as supposedly captured at Williamsport, Md. on July 14, 1863 * Prisoner of war at Fort Delaware, Delaware and joined 3rd Maryland Cavalry * Private Co. F. Butler, at New Orleans, during the occupation of that city. He was also with the Red River expedition in Arkansas and was in Texas. * His regiment was left in the service for a considerable time after the Civil War ended. * In one of the battles Robert was wounded, the ball passing through the flesh in his leg.
