* Captain Co. H 85th Regiment Pa. Infantry 
* Enrolled Oct. 1, 1861 at age 19 in Somerset, Somerset Co. Pa. 
* Mustered in Nov. 12, 1861 in Uniontown, Pa. 
* Served Nov. 12, 1861 - Sept. 22, 1864 - 34 month 10 days 
* Wounded Aug. 22, 1863 and Sept. 1864 
* Promoted from Sergeant to 1st Sergeant Aug. 1862 
* Promoted from 1st Sergeant to 2nd Lt. Aug. 15, 1862 
* Promoted from 2nd Lt. to 1st Lt. Dec. 1862 
* Promoted from 1st Lt. to Captain May 1, 1863 
* Wounded Aug. 21, 1863 at Folly Island near Charleston
