Ash, 80, of Homer City, (Center Township), died on April 2, 2002 in IHS at Mountain View, Greensburg. A daughter of Nelson and Mary Topper Albright, she was born March 17, 1922, in Blackfield, Somerset County. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 56 years, William O. Ash on Dec. 4, 1994; a son, Silas Nelson Ash; a great-granddaughter, Olivia Miller and a brother, Charles Albright. She is survived by these children, William E. Ash, Blairsville, Thomas J. Ash and his wife Judy, Blairsville, Alice Zemba and her husband John, Black Lick, Jean Peterson and her husband Ronald Zimmerman, Blairsville, Rita Zimmerman and her -husband Dane, Harrisburg, Susan Ash-Miller and her husband Rick Dobrick, Blairsville, and Sally Ash DeArmitt, Brush Valley; seven grandchildren, Jackie Ash Luna, Annett Ash Crank and her husband Mark, Ricky Ash, Beth Zemba Small and her husband Charles, Jennifer Miller, Stacy Peterson, Ryan Freeman and Donald Muir Peterson; five great-grandchildren, Tabitha Luna, Nadi Tillman, Casey Luna, Emily Small and Charles Small II; and a sister, Mary Durst of Ohio. Mrs. Ash attended the Black Lick United Methodist Church. She was a seventh degree member of the Blairsville Grange 2012. She was an avid gardener and quilter. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 7-9 pm Thursday at the Richard L Shoemaker Funeral Home, 49 N Walnut St., Blairsville, where services will be held at 11 am on Friday with Rev. Don R. Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Brush Valley Lutheran Cemetery. Brush Valley Township. The children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren of Mabel would like to thank our wonderful extended family, the staff at short procedure unit at Latrobe Hospital; Latrobe Hospital Visiting Surses; Dr. Santarlas and stafff at Blairsville Family Practice; Latrobe Hospital lab and blood bank; Dorothy and the staff at Green Oaks Personal Care Home; IHS at Mountain View staff; Citizens Ambulance Service, Indiana, and all our co-workers at our respective jobs. Your support and kindness over the past several years will always be remembered and appreciated. Mom always had a saying "If you don't have anyone else, you always have your family." and you were there for us just like family. Thank You.
