A native of Grantsville, he was a son of the late Daniel and Lydia (Kemp) Baker. His wife, the former Effie A. Mason, preceded him in death. Mr. Baker was a retired Garrett County (Md.) school teacher and mail carrier. He also served as postmaster in Accident for several years. He attended Frostburg Normal School and Juniata College Huntingdon. Pa., and was a member of Marlboro Assembly of God Church in Canton. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Clara Sisk, Accident, Md.; Mrs. Florence Hamill, Deer Park, Md.; and Mrs. Gladys Syler, Waynesburg, Ohio; two sons, Daniel Baker Jr., Washington, D.C.; and James W. Baker, Canton Ohio; also five grandchildren. three great-grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Effie Mason, Bowling Green. Funeral service was held Wednesday afternoon in Swanton United Brethren Church with Rev. Samuel Booth officiating. Interment in North Glade Cemetery. Meyersdale Republican, June 27, 1974 [B0138]
