Baker, 74, died November 29, 1983, at Frostburg Community Hospital, Maryland. Born in Finzel, he was a son of the late George Baker and Margaret (Layman) Baker. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Pocahontas. He was a retired carpenter and was a member of Carpenters Local 1024, Cumberland, Maryland; Frostburg Aerie 1273, Fraternal Order of Eagles, and Frostburg Lodge 348, Loyal Order of Moose. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Irene (Finzel) Baker; three daughters, Mrs. Yvonne Coughenour, Meyersdale; Mrs. Carolyn J. Thompson, Frostburg, and Mrs. Lu Ann Smith, Youngstown, Ohio; two sons, Robert E. Baker, Meyersdale, and Larry A. Baker, Akron. a sister, Miss Lydia Baker, Birmingham, Ala.; 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Friends were received at the Durst Funeral Home where a Christian wake service was held Thursday at 3:30 p.m., following a Memorial service by Moose Lodge 348 at 7:30 p.m. and a service by Frostburg Aerie 1273, FOE, at 7 p.m. A mass of Christian burial, was celebrated at St. Mary's Church, Pocahontas, Friday at 11:30 a.m. by Father Joseph Gaborek. Interment was in the Finzel Cemetery. Pallbearers were Jerry Winner, Dean Yutzy, Lynn Baker, Harold Yutzy, James Smith and Roger Schrock. The Republic, December 8, 1983 [B0160]
