Bowman Baker, 78, of Colonial Heights, Va., formerly of Somerset RD 2, died Feb. 10 at the Siemon Nursing Home. She was born April 12, 1894, in Somerset County, a daughter of the late Wilson and Sadie Shaffer Barron. She also was preceded in death by her first husband Homer F. Bowman, her second husband John L. Baker, six brothers and three sisters. She is survived by children, Mrs. M. H. (Lena) Grove of Somerset; Mrs. Roy (Fern) Saylor of Lebanon; Mrs. Ruben (Norma) Burgess of Colonial Heights, Va.; Wayne of Van Nuyes, Calif.; a step-son Clarence Baker of Connellsville; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. She was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ and Wimodausis Rebekah Lodge, Somerset. Friends will be received after 2 p.m. today in the Richard E. Hauger Funeral Home where services will be conducted Tuesday at 2 p.m. by the Rev. Richard Shellenberger,. Interment in Lavansville Reformed Cemetery. Daily American, 13 February 1973 [B0276]
