She was born May 8, 1887, at Roscoe, Washington County, Pa., and was a daughter of James and Margaret Hopper Harding. Her parents were born and reared in England. Her father, who died in 1932, was a resident of Salisbury for many years, first as a coal mine foreman, and later as a coal mine operator, but retired from business a few years after the first World War. Mr. and Mrs. Beal were united in marriage June 30th, 1935, and since then resided in Akron several years, and then located in Salisbury. Mrs. Beal's health began to fail about two years ago, but after undergoing a surgical operation, she soon recovered, and as late as last summer her appearance indicated good health. Later in the year her health again began to fail, and on the 26th of December became confined to her bed, and for months had to be in bed nearly all the time. Her condition gradually became worse, and six weeks before she died, she was taken to the hospital, where death relieved her of the intense suffering which she had to endure for months. The cause of her death was carcinoma, a form of cancer. Surviving are her husband, her aged mother, her sister Mary, wife of M. A. Wagner, and two brothers, John and William E. Harding, all of Salisbury. Mrs. Beal was always popular in the social circles of Salisbury, was much devoted to her aged mother and to her husband, sister and brothers. Funeral services were held at the home of her mother and husband, Tuesday afternoon at 3 o'clock, conducted by Rev. S. D. Sigler, pastor of St. John's Lutheran Church. The funeral was attended by many friends from far and near, and many sent beautiful floral tributes. Burial was in the Salisbury I.O.O.F. Cemetery under the direction of Stanley M. Thomas, local mortician. Meyersdale Republican, July 17, 1941
