He was born in Swanton, he was a son of the late James H. Bittinger and Nancy E. (Burkholder) Bittinger. He was a member of Maranatha Assembly of God, Grantsville, Md.; a retired coal miner and lumberman. He is survived by his widow, Bertha U. (Bowers) Bittinger, Md.; five daughters: Mrs. Edith Rounds, Grantsville; Mrs. Elva Wilt, Mrs. Norma Wilt and Miss Marlene Bittinger all of Canton, Ohio; Mrs. Burldiene Filsinger, Swanton; three sons: Stanley Bittinger, Buckhannon, W. Va.; Forrest Bittinger and Junior E. Bittinger, both of Swanton; three sisters: Mrs. Della Livengood, Springs; Mrs. Rosie Bittinger, Frostburg, Md.; Mrs. Ruth Bittinger, Grantsville; four brothers, Jesse Bittinger, Crellin; Lloyd Bittinger and Norman Bittinger, both of Frostburg; Ralph Bittinger, Grantsville; 18 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Friends were received at the Stewart Funeral Home, Oakland, Md. Services were conducted in the funeral home by the Rev. Herbert Bowman. Interment will be in Bittinger family cemetery.
