Blubaugh, 66, mine superintendent and well known in mining circles about Berlin, died suddenly, Thursday evening, Sept. 17. When he returned from his work in the late afternoon, he told his wife he was experiencing a shortness of breath. Not long afterwards, he dropped dead. He was a son of Norman and Bertha Altfather Blubaugh of Somerset County and was born October 16, 1882. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lelia Salkeld Blubaugh, and the following children: Edna, wife of Ray Stidham, Walla Walla, Wash.; Richard Blubaugh, Garrett R.D. 1; Herbert Blubaugh, Berlin R.D. 4; Clayton Blubaugh, Somerset R.D. 6; William Blubaugh, Army Air Force, San Antonio, Tex.; Louise, Gene, Thomas and Doris Blubaugh, at home. Another son was killed in service in Aachen, Germany, in May 1945. The following brothers and sisters also survive: Harry, Homer, ?, Roy and Amie Blubaugh, all of Berlin R.D. 4, and Mrs. Russell Auman of Somerset. Funeral services were held Monday at the Johnson & Son Funeral Home, Berlin. The Rev. Charles W. Rowe officiated. Interment was made in the Pine Hill Cemetery.
