Bowser, 82, of Accident RD 1, Maryland, died November 26, 1983, at Garrett County Memorial Hospital in Oakland, Maryland. Born in Accident, he was a son of the late Philip Smith and Ella (Bowser) Smith. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, a charter member of the Accident Volunteer Fire Department and a former member of the Garrett County Farm Bureau. He was a farmer and had also worked for 33 years for the Maryland State Roads Commission. He was preceded in death by one son, Albert Bowser, and one granddaughter. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Arletta (Burkhardt) Bowser; two sons, Elwood Bowser and Glenn Bowser, both of Baltimore, Maryland; three daughters, Mrs. Loretta Rush of Accident; Mrs. Alverda Rush, Deer Park, Maryland; and Mrs. Norma Bernard, Oakland, Maryland; five brothers, Albert Smith, Harvey Smith, Playford Smith, Paul Smith and Melvin Smith, all of Accident; two sisters, Mrs. Rosie Moon, Accident; and Mrs. Mary Nickelson, Confluence; 18 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. Services were conducted at the Newman Funeral Home, Grantsville, by the Rev. Frederick Illick. Interment was in the Zion Church Cemetery. The Republic, December 1, 1983 [B2214]
