  CHAPMAN
  
  Van G. Chapman, 79, New Castle, died Aug. 21, 1984, in Grove City
  Hospital.  Born May 3, 1905, in Pittsburgh, son of William and Mary (Van
  Gorder) Chapman.  Would have been married to Vida May Houk 51 years on
  Sept. 25.  Retired from U.S. Steel in 1969.  An elder and deacon in
  Castlewood Christian Missionary Alliance Church.  Survived by wife;
  daughter, Mrs. Arthur (Marlene) J. Gotjen, Confluence; two sons, Melford R.
  and William C., both of New Castle; and 10 grandchildren.  Friends received
  from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday, at the Tanner-Reynolds Mortuary, 1102
  Highland Ave., New Castle.  Friends received from 10-11 a.m. Friday at the
  Castlewood C.M.A. Church.  Funeral service at 11 a.m. Friday, the Rev.
  Hiram Westover officiating.  Interment, Harmony Baptist Cemetery, New
  Castle.
